About
Hella golf course is an 18-hole championship course. It is located in the southern part of Iceland in the town of Hella. A drive from Reykjavik city center takes approximately 1:30 hours, from Keflavík airport, 2 hours.
Hella golf course is a great course, when you play at Hella golf course, you will see that it has black sand in their sand traps. The black sand can also play a big role if you miss a fairway, as it lies around most of the fairways. The black sand can be challenging, and a pro tip from us, if you end up in the sand, is to try your best at getting the ball out on the fairway in as few shots as possible. An interesting fact about Hella golf course is it is the only course in Iceland that has a rectangular green. The rectangular green is on the 4th hole which is a long par 3. Hella golf course is a regular venue for the Icelandic golf tour, it hosted, for example, the Icelandic national stroke play championship in 2012, where Haraldur Franklin and Valdis Thora, two of our best professional golf pro’s won the tournament.
Facilities at Hella golf course include a club-house with a restaurant and a pro-shop. Rental of golf clubs, trolleys and carts are also available. The practice area includes driving range, ball machine, chipping green, putting green and bunkers.

Our favorite hole: 5th hole – A short par 5 with grass dunes in the middle of the fairway. If you are lucky enough to miss the grass dunes, you have a clear shot to the green and increase your chances of making a birdie or better.
