About
Ondverdarnes golf course is a fun 18-hole course. It is located in the southern part of Iceland in the county of Grimsnes. A drive from Reykjavik city center takes approximately 1 hour, from Keflavík airport 1:30 hours.
The course is diverse since the front nine was designed in 1973 and the back nine in 2008. To post a good score on Ondverdarnes golf course the key is to stay on the fairway on the front nine and keep your driver in the bag for the most part. The greens are much smaller on the front side so precision is vital before you can collect your birdies on the back nine.
One of the owners of PlayGolf Iceland is a member at Ondverdarnes golf course and has been playing for their team in the National club championship since 2016. In his eyes, there’s no golf course in Iceland better than Ondverdarnes.
Facilities at Ondverdarnes golf course include a club-house with a restaurant. Rental of golf clubs, trolleys and carts are also available. The practice area includes driving range, ball machine, chipping green, putting green and bunkers.

Our favorite hole at Ondverdarnes golf course: The second hole at Ondverdarnes golf course is a short par 3 hole (122 meters from yellow tees). What makes the hole special is that the green is well guarded by rocks as you can see in the video down below. If your shot is not precise you may expect your ball to be thrown a long way into moss but if you are lucky the ball will end up on the green. Before Ondverdarnes golf course was founded, the green used to be an old vegetable garden.
